Why I built FARU

I’m a family person from St. Louis. Freshman year at Missouri State I didn’t bring a car — rides home meant word of mouth or a bulletin-board note in the student union. Sometimes that worked; too often I missed holidays because I couldn’t find a seat. I built FARU so classmates can share the ride home without Uber prices for a 200-mile trip.
What FARU is
FARU (Find A Ride University) is a campus carpool message board for verified college students. Find a ride home for break, weekends, and hometown trips with classmates who already share your schedule — chat first, meet on campus, ride together.
What FARU is not
FARU is not Uber, Lyft, or a taxi dispatcher. It does not process ride payments or send random drivers to your door. Money for gas stays between classmates. Safety tools (SOS, emergency contacts, check-ins, report/block) ship on the free tier.
